Big Boys Western food: Unique cornflake chicken and premium Argentine steaks in Hawker Centre!

Usually, Western food stalls in hawker centres are pretty dull. Chicken chop, fish & chips and steaks are common and I can bet that 4 out of 5 different Western food stalls cook the same taste. Also, I always believe Western food in hawker centres can easily make a unique signature dish due to its flexibility.

I am at Beauty World Food Centre to meet a friend for lunch again. Strolling around the food centre I found Big Boys Westerns caught something in my eyes. Their signboard displayed "Signature Cornflake Chicken" and I immediately ordered this unique dish.

Big Boys Western has been around here for 4 to 5 years and was founded by ex - Ritz Carlton chef. They do sell a wide range of Western food too, from premium steaks to burgers and pasta.

The Ordered Dishes

Signature Cornflake Chicken ( 9.9 SGD)

I chose the mashed potato and broccoli as my sides. Serving is acceptable and it uses chicken thigh for the meat.

The frying is flawless. The chicken cutlet is fried to a clean, crisp texture and offers succulent and juicy interior meat. Cornflakes add a spark of sweet taste to the savoury fried cutlet. Absolutely beautiful.

Shoutout on their mashed potatoes as well. It was so smooth and buttery.

Argentina Black Angus Grain-Fed Ribeye 250g ( 23.90 SGD)

Comes with 2 sides to choose from. Argentina produced some of the best beef in the world. So it is expected on this pricing for quality.

I chose a medium-rare steak and cooked it just right, with a perfectly rosy centre. It is juicy but the steak did not season it before cooking. Black pepper sauce is alright, nothing special.

Thoughts

Worth a trip for this? Yes absolutely! Cornflake chicken cutlet is delicious and not greasy, the standout dish. Cornflakes add another layer of it. Mashed potato is a must-order side dish too.

Steak is ok at best. No doubt the doneness of it is great, but the black pepper sauce is very generic. When eating, it is not harmonious between the sauce and the steak. They are like strangers, which is quite common in Western food hawkers.
