When it comes to Mediterranean food, it's not something I eat often. So wanting to explore more of this style of food, I met up with my friend at Beauty World Food Centre for Hapiha.
Haphiha is a hawker stall which specialises in Mediterranean foods. It was opened by Klevis Shima, an Ang Mo (white people or caucasian in Hokkien) born in Albania. You can find more stories on the stall here. So an Ang Mo open one shouldn't be bad right?
Hapiha prides their foods are nearly everything made from scratch and no MSG is added to it.
The Ordered Dishes
I approached Kelvis and asked him for some of his recommendations. There are the 3 dishes he recommends.
Hummus with Pita Bread ( 7SGD )
This is my first time trying Hummus, I would say it's a bit bland. But pairing it with Pita Bread
it's way nicer! A good appetizer to start.
Chicken Kebab Wrap ( 8 SGD)
I chose honey mustard for the sauce. My previous encounters with kebabs from other stalls the chicken was greasy and oil flowed through the wrap itself.
But for Hapiha's Chicken Kebab Wrap, the meat is tender and not greasy at all. Vegetables are fresh too. Biting the wrap is crunchy and light!
Diavola Pizza 6 inch ( 10 SGD )
Diavola Pizza is Neapolitan style, almost the same as Gusta Pizza. It consists of Calabrese salami (Pork), mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. Their pizza's flour is specially flown from Italy and baked in a stone oven
Handmade dough's texture is nice and fluffy. Calabrese salami's saltiness just hit the right spot—a very well-rounded pizza.
Thoughts
This 1-hour trip from my home for this meal is definitely worth it. Using premium ingredients for their dishes and charging wallet-friendly prices is rather rare nowadays. I expect the Diavola Pizza to be the main star but the kebab stole the show. Hummus is new to me but is a good experience.
Hapiha presented their food hearty and light which doesn't overload your stomach. I enjoyed the Mediterranean well. Will come back for other choices of their foods.
